Tutee Guidelines for those receiving tutoring services

Printable version to sign and return. (pdf document)

  1. All requests for tutoring services need to be made and processed through the tutoring coordinator.
  2. Tutoring services should be requested at the beginning of the term within the first five or six weeks or as soon after the first test or any early indication of problems or inadequate preparation.
  3. Tutoring sessions should take place on campus in a public meeting area; time to be arranged and convenient for both parties.
  4. Students may request and/or attend small group tutoring sessions for their courses per semester.
  5. Tutoring sessions should be scheduled on a regular weekly basis.
  6. Student tutors are not expected to reteach the class; they should review, clarify and/or reinforce certain aspects of the subject.
  7. The student receiving tutoring services is requested to come to every tutoring session fully prepared; this includes reading assignments, completed homework and study guides, bringing needed materials, etc.
  8. Two or more missed scheduled tutoring sessions may place the student in jeopardy of receiving further tutoring services; if the student is not able to keep an appointment, it is their obligation to contact the tutor beforehand, and reschedule the session.
  9. Students receiving tutoring services are expected to keep the tutoring coordinator apprised of progress, quality of services, etc., as requested during conferences and during other more informal meetings.
