Tiffany Friesen


MSU softball coach, Bill Triplett, has announced that Tiffany Friesen will be joining the Beavers this fall. Friesen is a pitcher from Morden, Manitoba that can also play first or third. Friesen has received the top defensive and offensive player awards for the Winnipeg Lightning club team. She also won a bronze medal at the Senior Canadian National Championships in 2008 and has participated in several national championship tournaments.

 

"We're very happy that Tiffany has decided to get back into playing softball at the collegiate level and that Minot State is where she wants to be", stated Triplett.

Melissa Elliott

Minot State Head Softball Coach has announced that Melissa Elliott, a sophomore outfielder from Palomar College in San Marcos, California, will be joining the Beavers next fall. Elliott, who hit .360 for the Pacific Coast Conference champion Palomar Comets, was an all-conference performer for Palomar and was also voted her team's Most Improved Player this year. Melissa recently graduated from Palomar College with an A.A. Degree and over a 3.6 GPA.

"Melissa will add a lot ot our team, stated Minot head coach Bill Triplett. She's coming out of Mark Eldridge's program which is one of the best j.c. programs in the nation. Melissa knows how to play the game. She can run, hit, and throw very well".

Mandy Greenberg

MSU head softball coach Bill Triplett has announced that Mandy Greenberg has signed a letter of intent to join the Minot State softball program. Greenberg is a pitcher from Winnipeg, MB. Greenberg graduated from Garden City Collegiate and is a freshman at the University of Winnipeg. She has played the last 3 years for Blue Thunder and Manitoba Magic. Mandy has pitched in the last 3 National Championships and has also been named top defensive player for her club team the last 3 years. She was the 2007 Midget All-Star game MVP and was a 4-time" player of the game" award winner at the 2008 Midget National Championship. Greenberg has also been selected to play for Manitoba in the 2009 Canada Games.

Brittany Bartel

 

Brittany Bartel of Sinclair, Manitoba has committed to play softball at Minot State University.

Bartel is a righthanded hitting 3rd baseman with that is capable of putting up big numbers but she can also play shortstop if needed. She is currently a senior at Reston Collegiate.

Brittany was named to the 2007 Team Manitoba and played in the Western Canada Summer Games. She has been selected to be on the 2009 Canada Games team. Brittany was named 2005 top hitter at western Canadians and has played the last 4 years out of Brandon with the Westman Magic winning gold at Western Canadians in 2006 and silver in 2008.

Leah Mathewson

 

 

Minot State Head Softball Coach Bill Triplett has announced that Leah Mathewson, a lefthanded hitting 1st baseman/outfileder, has signed a letter of intent to play softball next year for Minot State. Mathewson is a senior at Dr. Martin Leboldus High School in Regina, Saskatchewan.

"I'm very happy that Leah has chosen Minot State University and our softball program", stated Triplett. She has great speed, hits from the left side and has a little pop in her bat. She will be a welcomed addition to our team."

Corinne Gautron

 

Corinne Gautron of Winnipeg, Manitoba has signed a letter of intent with Minot State University and will be joining the ball club and university next fall. In 2008 Corinne and her Smitty's team won the Gold Medal at the Midget Western Canadian Championships and participated in the American Fastpitch Association Nationals in Minneapolis. She also won the Silver Medal at the Senior Canadian National Championships. She has previously been a league all star, a provincial champion and participated in three Canadian National Championships. In 2006, Corinne was the starting catcher for the Manitoba provincial team which captured the Silver Medal at the Western Canada Summer Games.
