Teaching and Research
I have taught developmental literacy courses for several years, focused on supporting students succeed in their first year of college. My courses covered reading and studying strategies, metacognitive approaches to learning, and changing epistemologies surrounding the student and areas of study. Additionally, I have taught courses on educational philosophy, motivation in the classroom, motivation theories for educational research, child development, and adolescent development.
My research has varied over the years, but has primarily focused on methodologies for educational and psychological research. In terms of content area, my research focuses on motivation in college students (undergraduate students typically) and using Emerging Adulthood theory with Self-Determination Theory to understand how to support students motivationally.
