What are Developmental Courses

Developmental courses are prerequisites for higher level English and Math courses, they do not count as credit toward graduation, and they do not impact college GPA. A “C” or higher is required to advance to the next level. The developmental courses qualify for Financial Aid.

What Scores Require Developmental Courses?

English - An ACT English score of 17 or lower or SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing of 480 or lower (470 or lower prior to September 2018).
Developmental courses are not required if age 25 or older at the start of the term or if transferring 24 or more credits.

Math - An ACT Math score of 20 or lower or SAT Math score of 540 or lower (taken after March 2016).
