General Education Mobile (GEM)

Community College of the Air Force General Education Mobile logoMinot State University has partnered with the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to offer general education courses online that meet the general education requirements for the CCAF Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

  • The application fee is waived for all Air Force and Space Force Active Duty and North Dakota Air National Guard members.
  • Some college fees are waived for Air Force and Space Force Active Duty members enrolled in online courses.
  • We offer four Category I AU-ABC programs and one Category II AU-ABC program to help CCAF graduates pursue advanced education beyond their associate degree.
PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT, ELIGIBLE SERVICE MEMBERS MUST RECEIVE APPROVAL FROM THEIR ESO, MILITARY COUNSELOR OR MILITARY SERVICE.

The first step is to fill out an online application for admission as a non-degree seeking student.

    • For the questions about Major/Program and Degree/Plan, indicate Non-Degree.
    • For the question about military service, make sure to mark YES and answer the additional questions about your status and branch of service.
    • The application fee is waived for all Air Force and Space Force Active Duty and North Dakota Air National Guard members.
    • Non-Degree Seeking Form - If you indicate Non-Degree as your Major/Program and Degree/Plan, this form is available while completing the admission application.
  • Student Health Records: 
    • If you are enrolling in online courses only and do not plan to attend classes on the Minot State campus, you do not need to supply any immunization records. 
    • If you plan to enroll in courses on the Minot State campus now or in the future, you are required to submit:
      • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) - Proof of immunization for measles, mumps, and rubella requires two doses of vaccine given no less than one month apart, or positive serologic tests.
      • Students ages 21 and younger must provide documentation of immunity against meningococcal disease given at or after age 16.
      • All students must complete the tuberculosis questionnaire.
      • To submit the required documentation, go to Student Health Health Record Requirements page
    • No student will be permitted to enroll in a subsequent term until immunization records have been received.

Once you have been admitted to Minot State, you will receive an acceptance email with instructions. The following items will need to be completed:

  1. Claim your account for Campus Connection (You will need the Student ID/EMPLID number sent by the Enrollment Services Office.)
  2. Login to Campus Connection and complete your Financial Obligation Agreement
  3. Register for classes through Campus Connection
  4. Set up your Minot State email account which is REQUIRED for online courses
  5. Check for specific course requirements such as proctors, web cams, microphones, etc.
  6. Order textbooks through the Minot State Bookstore
  7. If you are taking an online course for the first time, it is recommended that you complete the Online Tutorial.

ECON 201 Principles of Microeconomics

In order to enroll in ECON 201 Principles of Microeconomics, you must have completed a General Education Math course with a C or higher or get permission from the instructor. The General Education Math courses available online are MATH 103 College Algebra, MATH 146 Applied Calculus, and MATH 210 Elementary Statistics.

ECON 202 Principles of Macroeconomics

In order to enroll in ECON 201 Principles of Microeconomics, you must have completed a General Education Math course with a C or higher or get permission from the instructor. The General Education Math courses available online are MATH 103 College Algebra, MATH 146 Applied Calculus, and MATH 210 Elementary Statistics.

ENGL 110 College Composition

In order to enroll in ENGL 110 College Composition I, you must meet one of the following criteria:
  • ACT English score of 18 or higher
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of 480 or higher
  • Accuplacer Next Generation Writing score of 256 or higher
  • Be 25 years of age or older

If you do not meet one of these criteria, you will need to enroll in a prerequisite course of ASC 87 College Writing Prep or ENGL 110 with a corequisite of ASC 88 College Composition Lab through Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB). This will require a separate application to DCB. MATH 103 College Algebra

In order to enroll in MATH 103 College Algebra, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • ACT Math score of 21 or higher
  • SAT Math score of 550 or higher
  • Accuplacer Next Generation Advanced Algebra score of 237 or higher

If you do not meet one of these criteria, you will need to enroll in a prerequisite course (ASC 93 Intermediate Algebra) and pass with a C or better. Please contact Jolina Miller, the Online Program Coordinator, at the number or email address listed below for additional information.

MATH 146 Applied Calculus

In order to enroll in MATH 146 Applied Calculus, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • ACT Math score of 25 or higher
  • SAT Math score of 600 or higher
  • Accuplacer Next Generation Advanced Algebra score of 263 or higher

If you do not meet one of these criteria, you will need to enroll in a prerequisite course (MATH 103 College Algebra) and pass with a C or better. Please contact Jolina Miller, the Online Program Coordinator, at the number or email address listed below for additional information.

MATH 210 Elementary Statistics

In order to enroll in MATH 210 Elementary Statistics, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • ACT Math score of 21 or higher
  • SAT Math score of 550 or higher
  • Accuplacer Next Generation Advanced Algebra score of 237 or higher

Undergraduate for Active Duty service members, National Guard, and Reservists - $250.00 per credit

*The College, NDSA, Tech, and Connect ND fees are waived for Active Duty service members, National Guard, and Reservists.

Minot State University offers degree programs entirely online and face-to-face on campus that allow you to continue your education after finishing your CCAF degree. GEM students who want to become degree-seeking students at Minot State, need to complete the following items BEFORE registering for classes:

 

Minot State is offering four Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) programs to meet the needs of CCAF graduates looking for advanced education opportunities at the baccalaureate level. Programs are available in the following areas:

  • Category I
    • Bachelor of General Studies (BGS)
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Services with a major in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
