"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."         Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Greetings, I began teaching full time at Minot State University August 2001. Previously, I was a public health nurse for 17 years at First District Health Unit in Minot, ND. During that time, I was pleased and eager to be able to work in a wide variety of public health roles, with 10 years in the tobacco prevention and control field. My time as a staff public health nurse will always be a treasure to me.
I have three wonderful daughters, Megan, Marlee Jo, and Josie. My girls, my husband and I enjoy spending family time outdoors - especially in the warmer months! I enjoy inspirational quotes; here are a few for you to ponder.
"Over broken asphalt, over dirty mattresses and heaps of refuse we went... There were two rooms and a family of seven not only lived here but shared their quarters with boarders...[I felt] ashamed of being part of a society that permitted such conditions to exist... What I had seen had shown me where my path lay." Lillan Wald, 1867 - 1940, coined the term and was the first "public health nurse." More information on Ms. Wald can be found on www.jwa.org/exhibits/wov/wald/lw4.html.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."         Margaret Mead
