Tenure track position in the Department of Nursing

Opportunity
The Department of Nursing at Minot State University, Minot, North Dakota, invites applications for a tenure track position beginning January 2010. Summer employment is possible.

Qualifications
Required qualifications: A terminal degree in nursing is preferred; a masters degree in nursing is required. A masters degree in nursing with a terminal degree in education will be considered. Experience in public health nursing preferred; community health nursing experience will be considered. Other required qualifications include: current registered nursing licensure or eligibility for licensure in North Dakota, excellent oral and written communication skills; a demonstrated desire to contribute to the nursing education community through service and scholarship; and a desire to join a team of nurse educators who enthusiastically work together to engage students in the study and application of nursing.

Desired qualifications: Public health nursing education experience at the undergraduate level; ability to teach public health nursing theory and clinical in a traditional face to face and an online environment; ability to teach other nursing or related courses in areas of expertise at the undergraduate level; demonstrated success in and enthusiasm for teaching; experience with WebCT or Blackboard; and other experience in integrating technology with education.

Responsibilities
Provide theory and clinical teaching in undergraduate public health nursing in a traditional face to face and in an online environment. Future potential exists to teach other nursing or other related classes in areas of expertise. The teaching load for this position is 12 credits (fall and spring) and possibly classes during the six-week summer term. The person will advise students, serve on department and campus committees, and make scholarly contributions to the nursing community. Participation in curriculum development and program evaluation within the department is expected. Additional opportunities for online teaching are possible.

The Department
The Department of Nursing currently includes 15 full-time and 7 part-time faculty members. We offer a major in nursing and a minor in Health Management Science. Information on the department and our programs is available at www.minotstateu.edu/nursing.
