Minot State welcomes PRSSA as a new campus organization

There is a new organization at Minot State University that is making a name for itself, the Public Relations Student Society of America. PRSSA is a national organization that is offered to universities across the country. Students at Minot State have decided to start a PRSSA chapter in hopes of creating a long-lasting and successful association on campus.

This new organization’s mission is to provide successful communication to all Minot State student organizations, as well as to work with local businesses so that they may provide further communication of their promotions to the students. PRSSA members work on everything from posters, fliers and advertisements to press releases, Web site design and radio public service announcements. The current PRSSA officers plan to provide all of these services at no cost to business clients or student organizations interested in marketing a service or event. So far this semester, members have had a bake sale to promote and fundraise for their organization and have helped out at an e-cycling event on campus.

PRSSA’s last meeting of the semester will be held Thursday (May 7) at 12:30 p.m. in Hartnett 311. The organization is encouraging all MSU students with undecided majors or any other area of interest to attend this meeting to learn what PRSSA is all about. Attendees will also be able to see first-hand examples of work members have done this semester. High school seniors and local business managers who feel they may be interested in PRSSA are also welcome to attend.

"I am really looking forward to this upcoming semester to see what PRSSA can accomplish with the new members and involvement on campus," PRSSA President Mary Christian said.
