 Minot State Athletics announces Hall of Fame inductees Minot State University announced the 2008 inductees into the MSU Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place at halftime of the football game on Saturday, September 27th at 1:30pm when MSU played host to Valley City State University. Steven Lipp was an outstanding wrestler for the Beavers from 1988-1990. During this time Lipp was a two time NAIA All-American and two-time NDCAC Champion in the 126 lb weight class. He was named NDCAC Most Outstanding wrestler and NAIA Academic All-American his senior year. In 1989 Lipp was the District 12 runner up and placed sixth at the NAIA National meet. In 1990 he placed third in the District 12 match and fourth at the NAIA National meet. Lipp was also a team captain in 1989 and 1990. He left MSU as the career win record holder and the career take down record holder. Lipp resides in Minot with his wife, Trini Lach. They have three children; Madelyn, Maxwell, and Murphy. Dr. Steven Lipp has been a practicing Chiropractic doctor @ Chiropractic Health & Wellness since 1994. The 1965-66 MSU Wrestling Team was one of the best teams MSU ever put on the mats. They compiled an overall record of 10-1 with their only loss coming to NCAA Division I Montana State University. During that year this team earned a NDCAC Conference championsip while having ten individuals qualify for the conference finals and six conference champions. Three team members for the 1965-66 team place in the national tournament while the entire team placed tenth at the NAIA national tournament. During the 1965-66 season three team members placed in the NAIA national tournament; Roger Behm placed third, Leo Kinsella placed 4th, and Bil McCallum placed fifth. Dick Belisle competed in Baseball and Basketball at Minot State during the years of 1961 to 1965. During this time Belisle became the MSU career record holder in Hits, RBI’s, stolen bases, runs scored and Doubles. During his senior year Belisle batted .458 while hitting eight doubles, four triples and and four home runs. Belisle now resides in Bismarck, ND with his wife Linda Belisle; they have a son, Lance and daughter, Tara. Tiffany Hegel was a four year letterwinner in women’s basketball from 1994 to 1998. During this time, Hegel helped Minot State to their first ever conference championship and NAIA National Tournament appearance in 1996 and then again in 1998. Hegel was named to the NDCAC All-Conference team in 1996, 1997 and 1998. She was also named Most Valuable Player by her teammates in 1996 and 1997. In her senior year Hegel was named NAIA All-American, MSU women’s basketball’s first ever all-American. She left Minot State as the career field goal record holder shooting 54.6% from the field. Tiffany is currently employed at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital and resides in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ron Just participated in Football, Track & Field and Basketball at Minot State from 1969 to 1973. During this time he was a four year starter at tight end. He helped his MSU football team to three conference championships in 1970, 1971 and 1972. In 1970 Just helped the Beavers to an 8-0 regular season record and an NAIA final four . In 1971 and 1972 Just led MSU to a 7-1 and 6-3 record, respectively. Just was drafted in the 13th round of the NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Just participated in basketball at Minot State for two years. Just was also a NDCAC Champion in the discus in 1971 and 1973. In 1972 he was the NAIA District 12 champion in the discus as well. Just also helped Minot State to a conference track championship in 1973. Ron is married to Donna and they have 4 grown children. Ron and Donna reside in Mandan, ND. 09/25/08 | |||||||||||||
