My name is Rebecca Porter. I’m originally from Bottineau, North Dakota and graduated from Bottineau High School. The best thing to do as a student checking out schools is to tour the campus. Once on campus, a person can immediately get a feel if he/she fits in. When I first arrived, I realized Minot State University was the right fit for me. Everyone was so nice! I really enjoyed the hands on learning at Minot State. During my entire second year at MSU, I had a camera in my hand and was filming, editing, and altering audio to create one-minute segments for our TV show. On paper staff, I was interviewing and writing stories by the second week of class. My courses were so much fun! I attained my undergraduate degree from MSU in 2005, double majoring in Broadcasting and Psychology. I liked it so much here that I decided to stay! I was hired at Minot State in December of 2005 as a Recruiter. I have recently been promoted to Recruitment Coordinator. In addition, I reenrolled at MSU to complete my master’s degree. All of my professors know me by name and say hi to me whenever we cross paths on campus. Overall, Minot State has a student to faculty ratio of 14:1, so there is a strong element of one-on-one attention in and out of the classroom.

Hi my name is Jason Trainer. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska however I claim Minot, North Dakota as my home. I graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 2003. In high school I was very active in organizations and athletic teams including my favorite sport.... Wrestling! Upon graduation I decided to study business at Minot State University. While studying my profession at MSU I stayed active serving as a Marketing Intern for the North Dakota State Fair, and the President of (SIFE) Students In Free Enterprise. I graduated from Minot State University this past May with a double major in Marketing & Management. I am now currently studying for my Master’s of Science in Management from MSU. I love my current position as an Enrollment Representative and liaison with the College of Business. My job allows me to travel and meet new students from all over the world. Minot State University has provided me the education and opportunities to be successful!!!

My name is Kristin Wood. I’m originally from the small town of Sherwood, North Dakota, just two miles south of the Canadian border! I graduated from Sherwood High School where, (as with most small towns) I was active in almost everything. However, I developed a specific fondness for the performing arts and... talking in general. After high school I came to Minot State University to study, what else... Communications! While attending MSU, I was very active in the Theater and Broadcasting Departments. I was fortunate enough to be cast in main stage productions, I was in on the birth of the Black Box Theater, active in Summer Theater, and hosted "Inside out" for two years. After graduating, I worked as a television news reporter and producer in North Dakota, Florida and Minnesota. I can’t say enough about the education, experience and one on one relationship I had with my professors at MSU. Now, as a recruiter, I get to talk about all the great opportunities MSU has to offer to perspective students across the United States and Canada! I am the liaison for the College of Education and Health Sciences, and believe me...there is plenty to keep me talking! For example, our fantastic Speech Language Pathology Program, or top-notch Nursing Program and the exciting Criminal Justice Program. And that’s just a few.
