Philosophy and Mission Statement
The mission of the Disability Support Service Office (DSS) is to ensure
a comprehensively accessible University experience where individuals
with disabilities have the same access to programs, opportunities and
activities as all others. The DSS is also committed to promoting access
and awareness as a resource to all members of the community.
Our philosophy is one that promotes self-awareness, self-determination,
and self-advocacy in a comprehensively accessible environment.
Reasonable accommodations are afforded to eligible students and are
individualized to address specific functional limitations resulting from
a disability.
Assurance of equal educational opportunity rests upon legal foundations
established by federal law, specifically the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
including Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
