This online course is offered through the Center for Extended Learning at Minot State University. The course is designed to provide continuing education to healthcare workers. It will include information on incidence, pathogenesis, risk factors of the host, preoperative and intraoperative measures to decrease SSI risk, and the role of surveillance and development of strategies to prevent Surgical Site infections. The course is based on the CDC Guidelines for Prevention of Surgical Site Infections and uses literature from the perspective of an Infection Control Practitioner.

CNE-NET is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the ANCC Commission on Accreditation.

What are the computer requirements for Online courses?

• An active email account.
• WebCT is compatible with the following browsers: Netscape version 4.5x to 4.77 (version 6.x not supported) and Internet Explorer (IE) version 5.0 to 5.5 SP2 (version 6.0 not supported).
• We recommend a 33.6 BPS modem as a minimum, but 56.6 is ideal.
• 32MB is sufficient.
• Windows 98 is sufficient. For Macintosh users, MAC 6.05 operating system or higher.
