Tax Credits and 1098-T Tax Online Consent Form

Hope or Lifelong Learning Credits Minot State University will be providing information for students that is required by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 (TRA97). Form 1098-T must be sent to students no later than February 1.

For more information whether you may be eligible for either the Hope or Lifelong Learning Credit, please contact the IRS web site (www.irs.gov/individuals) or by calling the IRS at 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-1040). There is also a brochure available on NACUBO's web site , (www.nacubo.org), entitled "New Tax and Savings Options for Education", which summarizes the tax credits and other tax information related to college tuition.

Electronic 1098-T

Starting with the 2019 calendar year, MSU students will automatically receive their 1098-T Tuition Statement via Campus Connection ONLY. You must have a device with internet access and Adobe software to view/print your electronic form. Students will receive an email notification to their campus email when the 1098-T is available in Campus Connection (approximately 10 days before the paper 1098-Ts will be postmarked).

How to print a 1098T form

  1. Log into campus connection
  2. Click on financial account
  3. click on view 1098-T
  4. click on “tax year” for the form you would like to print

If you can't remember the  questions, call the NDUS help line to ask them to update your "Campus Connection" password, and they should be able to help you get into your account.  The phone number is (866) 457-6387.  Once the NDUS Help Desk changes your "Campus Connection Password, you should wait a couple minutes for all the passwords to sync up before trying to get into your email/campus connection/black board with the new password.

If you prefer to receive a mailed paper copy, email StudentInfoBusOff@MinotStateU.edu BY December 31st of the calendar year. Requests for a paper copy of the form, must be received in writing. You will also need to ensure that your HOME address listed in Campus Connection is accurate as we cannot email or fax copies or release the form to anyone on your behalf.

To update your HOME address:

  1. Log into Campus Connection: www.MinotStateU.edu/cc
  2. Select the ‘Profile’ tile from your homepage and select ‘Addresses’ from the left-hand menu
  3. If your home address and listed and is correct, you do not need to do anything further.
  4. If it is not listed or it is incorrect, click the plus sign under the words ‘Home Address,’ fill in your current address and click the ‘Save’ button.
    1. Your updated address will now show under ‘Home Address.’
