Department of Biology

Today, our last day, we explored the different ways that amphibians move, like walking, swimming, crawling, hopping and jumping.  We noticed that some species hop, all can walk, some jump, and some crawl.

Here's one of our movies where we decided that "froggy" frogs, i.e., species of Rana, can swim pretty fast by using their back legs.  So they can jump andswim with their cool, long, strong back legs.  We don't think toads jump or swim as fast.

We also noticed that salamanders in the water can either swim or walk.  When they swim they pull their arms and legs to the side of their body, like a crocodile!

The last thing we did was take our team picture: here we are together with all our friends (both human and amphibian!).
