Financial Aid and Scolarships
Financial Aid is available to students, who without such help would be unable
to attend Minot State University. The primary responsibility for financing a
college education rests with the student and his/her family. Financial Aid should
be used as a supplement to family support. The Financial Aid Office reserves
the right to the final determination regarding the type(s) and amount awarded
to the students. Awards are based upon an evaluation of the student's eligibility
as determined by the needs analysis form and the availability of funds.
Who May Apply:
Students applying for financial aid must:
(1) Be a U.S. Citizen or an eligible noncitizen.
(2) Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree granting program.
(3) Maintain satisfactory progress toward completion of a course of study.
(4) Not be in default on any Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).
(5) Not owe a repayment of any grant funds previously received.
How To Apply :
New students applying for financial aid must complete a Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). When completing the FAFSA, applicants must list
Minot State University as a college they plan to attend.(Code number 002994.)
-in Financial Aid Office / Admin. Building, 2nd floor. Returning or transfer
students may complete the Renewal Application or the FAFSA. The Renewal Application
is mailed by the Department of Education directly to the students. Students
applying for financial aid for the summer term will also be required to complete
an institutional financial aid application.
When To Apply:
To receive priority consideration for financial aid, the FAFSA should be completed
and mailed by March 1. The priority funding deadline is April 15. The FAFSA
or renewal applicationsmust be completed each year. Applications for financial
aid will be accepted after April 15, but funding may be limited to the Federal
Pell Grant and the Federal Family Education Loan Program.
Caution: Students completing the FAFSA incorrectly or omitting nessesary information
may be required to resubmit the FAFSA. This will cause a delay in determining
a students eligibility and may cause students to miss the priority funding date.
Students who have a completed file by April 15 may expect to be notified of
their financial aid awarded by June 30.
